Hófi litter

As usual our “order” was mixed up as we were hoping for more females but we are blessed as they are healthy and strong. Unfortunately one male puppy passed away a few days old due to an intestinal blockage. We have posted photos under the news in slide shows for each weeks development, and a collective page of the photos here as a separate page but occasional photos will be posted here as well at the bottom of this page with their names as the slide show doesn’t allow us to say who is who.

Hófi goes back to Skessu Salka who is a member of the O line which is a rare family line in our breed. This line is very under represented in the population worldwide as well as here in Iceland. She has only had two puppies so far and both live in Finland so we are hoping to find one co-own home here in Iceland for a puppy out of this litter. Prins is out of a male dog not used too much in the population although he is not out of rare family lines this particular combination will allow for many different lines to be used in future without high inbreeding co-efficient. Both have double dewclaws on back legs. Hófí has no siblings living in Iceland as she was imported from Holland (out of Icelandic/Norwegian/Swedish lines).
We are hoping to get a red litter like the parents and that colour is getting quite hard to find, possibly a lighter tan can result and Hófi carries cream although we are not sure Prins does it will be interesting to find out. There is a possibility of piebald but in the least we expect some white markings. There is also a good chance of liver (red with brown pigment) which we are not overly excited about but we found the chance of that well worth taking to obtain the red coat colour and the awesome temperament and type. It is not as difficult to bring back the black nose pigment in future if we can keep the rich red intact. We don’t expect black puppies in this litter.

Unfortunately because she is imported and they used her 3 gen pedigree to put in the data there is one generation missing on the online pedigree but that info can easily be found on the NKK database (for members) or I can provide it if someone would like to know more generations back.
This litter is most likely pending but we will take down names for a waiting list in case something changes if you are interested in this combination or a puppy out of Hófi in future. There may be one male available preferably to a home here in Iceland but inquiries welcome.
