9 weeks and older

Klói and Káta have their own pages but I don't update them often! Scroll down to see the earlier photos starting on May 23rd. Newest photos on top.

June 6th

A couple photos Rúnar took yesterday before they went to the airport. I wanted to own a special three generation photo of Kolla because I felt she was so much like her mother and grandmother. It's so funny to see Freyja and Birta's faces in the last photo, they couldn't figure out why they had to stay still but Kolla kept running around. :-) I see the spitting image here with the three of them but maybe it's just me!

Kelikátur only got one photo taken with his mom and grandma because we ran out of time, and I decided just to hold him on the photo. They thought it was too much fun to run around and play. There was no way Frigg wasn't going to be in the photo, I guess she thought a photo isn't a photo without her in it. I thought she was hidden behind me but obviously not.

Klói is such a good boy, sits whenever he wants something and follows us everywhere. Rúnar was getting his first meal ready in his own bowl and he was going to eat with the other dogs instead of his siblings. So it was a moment in his life that is fun to record. It looks like he has inherited his grandmother's love of food, and in this case Birta looks like she was hungry too!

June 5th

So today is the last full day at home, the two Viking travelers will be leaving tomorrow around lunch time. We got a few photos of them last night and a couple today. Raining as usual so they were playing inside. The three musketeers love to play with socks, but they are not alone, the older dogs can't let such an opportunity of play pass them by. Hard to believe sometimes that Birta is 4 years old and we had hoped she would "settle down" and mature after the litter. Most the time she is the instigator and if the puppies stop playing she´ll get them all going again.

First a very TYPICAL photo taken in the house, seems there are quite a few like this when the whole gang is together. Kelikátur is enjoying his new toy after supper. Klói picked it out for him (by himself) when we went to town on Saturday. We stopped in the garden center and Klói got to look around in the pet section. It looks like the toy is just meant for Kelikátur, matching colours and everything!

The first photo is pretty funny, look at Klói and Hófi playing a mouth game in the background. So cute :-) Sometimes I think the pups realize that they are not all going to be staying. Klói has been more or less playing on his own or with the older dogs, while Kelikátur and Kolla always seem to stick together these days.

Little goon, Daddy's boy coming in from the rain.

Brought in the bed we used in the car today and as usual they can have loads of fun with anything! As you notice on the last photo it didn't take long for the little white tag to disappear :-)

June 3rd

Just a few photos of the pups looking a bit gangly these days. Notice how big they are getting, catching up quickly to Hófi and not much to go to catch Freyja either! They really love those dandelions, who needs a weed killer when you have 3 puppies and 4 grownup lawn mowers to keep the lawn trim.

May 30th

Only photos of Klói today, haven't been taking too many photos lately but Rúnar got these ones of us trying tracking for the first time. You can see the line of sock water as a slightly darker line on the pavement. First I show him the ground and he got a click for sniffing, then he sniffed some more and click, etc.

May 26-28

Somebody looks just like his grandma Freyja! You think maybe that's why he isn't going anywhere? LOL

Rúnar's grandma and granddad came for a visit and Granddad has a favourite! Hófí gets spoiled every time they come to visit, looks like she doesn't mind in the least.

Rúnar decided to do a little nail cutting, Kolla thought he might need her help with Kelikátur, then she just layed down and handed him her nails when it was her turn. You might notice that Klói is trying to take Rúnar's sock off on the last photo. LOL

A nice outing to see their sister Káta Hetja and her "sister" Aría (a mixed breed).

May

Birta is looking awful these days as expected. She has hardly any hair under her body or legs and it looks like she has a "dress" on as you can see her ruff is still full but stops short when it gets to her chest because there is no hair on her belly or underbody. So funny to see her this way.

Rúnar thought it might help to put her in a bath and massage the old coat. Her new coat will hopefully come in faster if she is nice and squeaky clean. I took a couple photos of the drowned rat because I love to see the grey in her coat and it's very obvious when she is wet.

And here she is the little beauty queen after her bath, not as obvious now how much hair she is missing on her belly and chest. LOL

May 12

Rúnar got a new flash for the camera and had to try it out so here are a bunch of photos of nothing really! Just the pups wandering around and being cute. Kolla getting a drink of water and then climbing over Kelikátur.

Having fun with the flash!!! LOL  Kolla and Kelikátur of course so used to being photographed by now...don't mind in the least.

Ah, finally they settle down and go to sleep for a few minutes. They are definitely starting to sleep alot less during the day.

May 13

Took them for a Sunday run after a long day traveling in the car they were very happy to get out and run although they never go very far from us.

Find the puppies!

Love little Klói's expression on these photos, he is a real baby and Momma's boy!

They started following Rúnar to the car and I grabbed the camera, so of course Klói stopped to see if I was coming.

Then Kolla turned to make sure I was coming too. Like I say they want us all to stay together a real Icelandic sheepdog characteristic that is highly instinctive.

May 14

They got a new ball tonight and I think it was a hit!

Kolla wanted to play but the ball wasn't as open to the invitation. So funny, the ball was rolling slightly in the wind so I guess she thought it was alive. Was a little bit cautious at first and then followed Klói's lead. Kelikátur usually takes his own time to check things out but is by no means scared of anything just not as interested in silly stuff.

May 15-16

Tuesday was Klói's day out, we´re taking them one at a time to get them used to not always being together. So Klói's photo in the car, very good boy although it did take a few minutes for him to get used to be all alone, after that we didn't know he was there.

After going to the store and leaving him in the car we took him out for a few minutes to train him. I posted a video of him, he was fenominal on lead. Unbelievable that this was only his second time away from home on the lead and only his 3rd or 4th time walking on lead period!! Took him for a few minutes the day before while I waited for the car to go through it's yearly check.

Then I asked him for a SIT, and he DID IT!!! In a very high traffic area. Wow, you could have blown me over with a feather. My little genious of a boy.

Then we stopped on the way home to let him try out the kids climbing equipment at the nearby school. It reminds me of agility equipment so I wanted to try it. Lured him twice at the very start and then he was on his own and did it well for a click and a treat.

Wednesday was Kelikátur's day out and he went for a car ride on his own too but unlike his brother (who sat or fell asleep) Kelikátur liked to look out the window.

He got to go walking on lead down by the highway, I tried to take photos of Rúnar but they were all so blurry so Rúnar took some photos of me instead and most of them were blurry as well. He's a busy little boy and if his body was in focus then his little head was blurry or his tail going a mile a minute blurring his backend. LOL.

Then he got to see some horses that were down by the highway. He was very interested and his little tail was wagging as we walked up to them, not a peep out of him what so ever. Good boy!

I don't know if these horses are used to dogs but they were very interested in Kelikátur and they put their little heads in the air and started sniffing, it was so funny. They liked being petted too.

Then we stopped on the way home to try out the equipment. Kelikátur was a little more rambuntious as always and ran up so fast I could hardly keep up so Rúnar wasn't fast enough on the camera either. LOL.

May 17-19

Had a real rainy day so most of the day was spent inside but still got a little rest and relaxation in the fresh air. They had such a ball playing inside, much more fun than being out in the rain.

Bedtime and Rúnar used the opportunity to watch House while he was "calming" the puppies. They hate to go in their cages when they are overtired, so if you sit by them they usually fall asleep.

Kolla's day out, she was a little insecure in the car by herself but maybe that's because the last time she went by herself in the car she was at the vets. She did settle though in between bouts of unhappiness. LOL

First stop was at the store, first she was alone in the car and not a peep from her and then she got to go out to walk on lead in amidst all the busy people and cars.

We got stopped a few times and she was really a popular little girl.

She couldn't figure out why Rúnar wasn´t coming with us!

Then we checked out the horses at the side of the road and she was extremely interested in them but was still cautious enough and didn't bark at all. The young horse at the front was so happy to see us. LOL

Kelikátur's owners came from USA on their way to Europe for holidays. They will come back in the beginning of June to pick him up. He was smitten with them right away which was a good thing to see, it's always hard to pick the right homes for the puppies so when you see the puppy actually likes their owners then it is like a weight is lifted. Wonderful people that I was very happy to meet and I'm sure Kelikátur will have a wonderful life in Washington.

Klói and I (the giants) at a replica of an old fashioned Icelandic "torfabćr" turf farm.

Well, what can I say, I just love this little guys outline and structure! Now that's one cute Icelandic Sheepdog puppy...but I'm not biased. LOL

May 23-26

A few photos in and outdoors, nothing special just being cute as always.

Freyja always loves to be outside when she gets the chance and she´ll stay out there all by herself and just watch the neighbourhood. I thought this was a bit cute how she sits right beside the small tree.

Hófi being a sweetheart. She just had a bath after being out on her own for a nice swim. Frigg obviously doesn't mind her little grandbaby leaning on her as a pillow. Hófí had actually fixed the other pillows herself before settling down to relax. They were way over on the other side of the sofa, but she arranged them just right! :-)
