Here is a painting made by my favourite artist. I just had to include it here as it is so beautiful. It was compiled for me from 4 photos and is of my first litter of ISD´s, from left to right is Hófi, Stássi frá Götu, puppies: Töfra Sigfús, Töfra Snókur, Töfra Stjarna and Töfra Snubbur on the pillow. It is very dear to me. The artists name is Randy Penner, he lives in Canada and this was painted for me as a housewarming gift from a friend of ours and Randy's. He has captured them so well that I could only dream of being such an artist, I guess you can say he is my inspiration as a painter. It is a water colour and so realistic that it is not as obvious on a photo, each little hair is visible. I never knew that water colour could have such detail. A wonderful wonderful artist and the painting is my most precious possesion I think. Unfortunately you can see my shadow in the photo trying to take the photo and the flash on Stássi's face, but I hope you enjoy the photo of the painting anyway.

So in a totally different league all together I'm a bit ashamed to add my stuff but here are a few of the paintings I have done lately. I used to paint alot but haven't done anything since about 2001 or 2002, can't remember. Most of my stuff has been given away as gifts through the years so I don't have much of my own paintings. So in keeping with me giving away stuff I will be giving some of these as prizes at the fun match I will be judging in Canada on the 27th of July. I have no education whatsoever in painting or art so I just paint from the heart and most of my work is much better seen from a distance. The farther away the better. LOL My detail isn't very good so I usually just blurr backgrounds and hope for a bit of an abstract essence. I have a bit of a shakey hand when I paint, not to mention I don't have a half decent brush that's fine enough for detail. I always wished I was the type of artist that can give such detail to a painting that it looks like a photo or as if it's alive but I just can't paint that well and never will. I hope at least somebody can appreciate my artwork and the style I do it in. I tend to think of my work as childlike but hey, not everyone can be an artist! It's just a way to share my passion for the breed. I will add that these paintings are all being extremely rushed and I've done about one a day this past week. I wish I would have had more time but I got this fly in my head all of a sudden to make some prizes so I've been trying my best to finish them quickly.

The next two paintings I did from photographs, maybe not totally correct or lifelike but hopefully a likeness in both cases.

This painting is something that I did last night with a bit of encouragement. I saw a beautiful photo of Canada and thought wouldn't it be nice to paint some scenery like that and have an Iceland dog in it, like a hidden spirit. Yes I am part Blackfoot Indian so I love stuff like that. Rúnar said you can do something like that. I said NO but then I thought well I can fool around and then throw it away if it turns out horrible. Actually I'm not so happy with it but Rúnar loves it and said I can't give that one away. :-) We´ll see maybe I'll make a new one for him later.
I also painted on a few objects. Here are the ones I have intended as prizes. A key cabinet and a tiny little chest, I think it's cute but I don't think it has many uses it is so small.

I had a vision of a painting of Klói's eyes and here it is! As with most of my paintings it looks better from a distance. :-)

I had a small request that I couldn't refuse :-) Love this little puppy Greenstone Lightening (a grandpuppy of mine) and his owner/breeder so deserves a painting for all her hard work of setting up the show for me to judge. Talk about a puppy with character that shows in his expression!
Another order I got to do, it's a Chihuahua puppy who sadly died very young. Her ashes will be kept in this box.

I decided I was going to try to keep track of my paintings from now on. I have painted so many things that I don't have photos of and wish I did! First off this is a plaque that is to be given as a reward for a wonderful contribution to the population of Iceland dogs in Canada. In the middle there will be an engraved plaque from the club giving the reward.

This is my own from many years ago, it's tiny but it's some dogs from my own breeding and I have it in my glass cupboard. It has special meaning to me since it was the first painting I did on a box.
On front is Hófi and my girlfriends female who was longhaired pied. I tried to include all types and colours, so on the one side is Spori Sámur who is Freyja's father (she wasn't born yet at the time but I loved that dog and so included him!) the other side is Töfra Snubbur and on the top is Töfra Teitur in his favourite sleeping position.

My latest creation from an order. The owner preferred to have the box in it's natural colour, that's a little bit more difficult for me because if I make a mistake I can't fix it by painting over it! LOL But I hope it turned out okay. The little chihuahua is quite light and blends in a bit but I felt that it would have ruined the look to put a darker line just around it's head. It's a little different in real life of course, pictures can't always give the true impression.

Lubba and Lubbi, Runar's grandparents dogs!

A chihuaha and my first cat painting.

This is a very young Icelandic Sheepdog puppy from Greenstone Kennels in Canada.
